Africathletics is a project of cultural, educational, and sports cohesion that takes place in Malawi.

Africathletics is a project of cultural, educational, and sports cohesion that takes place in Malawi. The project was founded in 2015 by Mario Pavan and Enrico Tirel, who decided to dedicate part of their time to sharing the values and healthy lifestyle of the sport they love: athletics. Our goal is to educate through sport, with the help of volunteers from all over the world. Our dream: to build a strong and lasting sports community in Malawi.

Malawi is a predominantly agricultural country, densely populated and experiencing rapid population growth. Three-quarters of the population, especially in rural areas, live on less than $1.50 a day. One of the major issues affecting the country is HIV: about 12% of the population is living with HIV or AIDS, which is the leading cause of death.
